My approach to psychotherapy is deeply interdisciplinary. As a licensed psychotherapist, registered nurse, and board-certified clinical chaplain, I bring a holistic clinical lens that attends not only to the psychological dimensions of a person’s life, but also to the physiological, relational, social, and spiritual aspects of human experience.

Long before entering the clinical professions, I was drawn to the deeper questions of human life: who we are, how we suffer, what gives life meaning, and what makes transformation possible. That search shaped much of my early formation and led me through Christian seminary study, Buddhist monastic life, time in wandering the sacred sites of the far east, and sustained engagement with a range of philosophical and contemplative traditions. Those experiences continue to inform the depth, breadth, and seriousness with which I approach clinical work.

My formal clinical path began in healthcare chaplaincy, including extended residency training at the University of Kansas Hospital, where I learned to accompany people through crisis, illness, grief, uncertainty, and questions of meaning under conditions of profound vulnerability. I later became a board-certified clinical chaplain and clinical supervisor. That work deepened my commitment to helping people engage not only symptoms, but the deeper structures of the self: suffering, identity, desire, conflict, relationship, and the search for coherence and agency.

Eventually I completed graduate training in mental health counseling and became an independently licensed psychotherapist. In addition, I trained as a registered nurse and pursued advanced study in nursing science, with board certifications in psychiatric-mental health nursing and holistic nursing. I also have training in public health and epidemiology. Together, these disciplines allow me to work with a wider and more integrated understanding of persons and the varied contexts that sustain lives.

My professional life has spanned ministry, healthcare, education, and executive leadership. Across those settings, I have encountered the same reality repeatedly: human beings are more complex than most systems know how to hold. My work is grounded in the conviction that good therapy must make room for that complexity. I aim to meet patients with depth, clarity, and respect, offering a space in which genuine self-understanding and meaningful change can become possible.
